Yan Xu

Professor of Nanyang Technology University

Dr. Xu received his B.E. and M.E. degrees from South China University of Technology, Guangzhou, China, and PhD degree from The University of Newcastle, Newcastle, Australia, all in electrical engineering.
He is now an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and a Cluster Director at Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N).
Dr Xu and his SODA (Stability, Optimization, and Data-Analytics) power system research group are focusing on:
1) stability and control of renewable-energy power systems
2) microgrids and distributed energy resource (DER) integration
3) data-analytics for smart grid applications
As the first/corresponding author, Dr Xu has published 3 books on his three focused research topics respectively with IEEE-Wiley, IET, and CRC Press, and 114 IEEE Transactions and 30 IET journal papers. 
His research in Singapore is funded by a range of agencies and industry partners, including National Research Foundation (NRF), Ministry of Education (MOE), Energy Market Authority (EMA), Housing & Development Board (HDB), DSO National Laboratories, Rolls-Royce, Singtel, Infineon, JTC (Jurong Town Corporation), SingaporePower (SP) Group, LITEON, and etc.
